The two companies are now working together to create a single point of entry for the best digital films made for theatrical distribution and Internetdistribution as well as special online events.
The D.FILM Digital Film Festival is a traveling and online showcase of films made with computers and new technology. In 1999 the traveling festival was screened in 21 cities around the world and was chosen to be the first ever digital film showcase at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival. D.FILM was founded by principal members of the Low Res Film Festival, the first film festival to offer its lineup on the Internet as well as the big screen.
The New Venue is the first online showcase for movies made expressly for the Internet. The New Venue caters to a media-savvy audience, offering a curated space to see and be seen for the new wave of online filmmakers. Every week the New Venue features a single movie in QuickTime or Flash which transcends the aesthetic and technical boundaries of the medium. The New Venue also offers valuable resources for online filmmakers. The New Venue was founded by Jason Wishnow in 1998 with support from Stanford University and the D.FILM Digital Film Festival.
