The New Venue and Generic Media Bring the First Ever Aggressively Boring Film Festival to the Palm OS Call for entries now open to present your tiniest films to the world during Comdex, define a new film style, and win a Sony CLIÉ NEW YORK - October 30, 2000 - The New Venue today announced call for entries to the first ever film festival on the Palm OS, the Aggressively Boring Film Festival. This event is being held to celebrate the release of the Sony CLIÉ personal digital assistant, which comes bundled with Generic Media's new gMedia software for playing video clips on the Palm OS. The Aggressively Boring Film Festival will advance the potential of video content on the Palm OS. Generic Media and the New Venue are calling on professional and amateur digital filmmakers to make the first wave of gMedia movies and to define the future aesthetic of all movies for hand-held devices. "The Aggressively Boring Film Festival will pave the way for all movies on the Palm platform. The current limitations of the Palm encourage creativity. Lack of sound, limited memory, and a small screen present new challenges for storytellers. The opportunities for experimentation are akin to those of movies on the Web," says Jason Wishnow, New Venue founder. "This is an exciting time for filmmakers and digital artists eager to take on the new potentials of this technology." gMedia content for the Palm OS can be created from AVI, QuickTime, Flash, and MPEG-1 files. Currently, gMedia is available exclusively on the Sony CLIÉ. All submitted films will go on display and be available for download from the New Venue and Generic Media websites (newvenue.com/event and genericmedia.com, respectively). The top films will be presented in the Sony CLIÉ booth at Comdex in Las Vegas, November 13th - 17th. One gMedia film will be voted "Best Film" and the winner will receive a new Sony CLIÉ. Submit your film with the following guidelines:
